FedEx Field

Landover, Maryland

facebook - instagram

twitter - you tube

Venue

FedEx Field

Located approximately …

16 miles (30 minutes) from Washington DC Reagan Airport.

28 miles (40 minutes) from Baltimore Airport.

44 miles (60 minutes) from Washington Dulles Airport.

FedEx Field is the home of the NFL Washington Redskins.  When built in 1997, it claimed the largest capacity in the NFL at 91,000.  After some tinkering with seating (and depending on which article you read) the capacity is now just under 80,000.

Getting to FedEx Field

FedEx Field is located in Landover, Maryland – described in one article as a “disconnected suburb”. The Washington DC area Metrorail will take you up to - within a mile - of FedEx Field at “Morgan Boulevard” station.  Plan on a minimum 25-minute walk.

If you are driving, I recommend you first check with CBS Local and Stadium Parking Guides.

The FedEx Field site recommends Uber to/from the game.  I support full time drivers instead - those who drive for a living and not just to “pick up a few bucks”.  Try  limos.com or similar type of car service.  Why sit in traffic for what can be hours when you could be relaxing while a professional driver stares at the back of the car in front of him.

Parking

As with many suburban stadiums, the FedEx Field game-day experienced is somewhat lessened by expensive parking and way too much time spent sitting in traffic on your way to/from your parking spot.

After reading many articles on parking at FedEx Field I found the Stadium Parking Guides.com site to be a clear, concise and to the point source to help master what seems to be confusing parking options.  I lived in Minneapolis for 40 years so checked Stadium Parking Guides.com for parking at Target Field.  It was right on point!  The site offers a link to SpotHero where you can reserve and pre-pay a parking spot for Maryland-Texas on September 1.

Tailgating

·       Tailgating is permitted in all parking lots.

·       Normally, you may not use more than one parking spot.

·       If you do wish to use more than one spot, you will be directed to the back of the lot where you will be allowed to occupy additional parking spaces until such spaces must be used for parking.

·       Parking lots open 4 hours before game (red zone = 5 hours).

·       Note: Red Zone lots have wider stalls for parking – better for tailgating.

Children

Children 2 years and over are required to have a ticket.  Children under 2 may be admitted free provided the child sits on an adult lap and does not obstruct the view of others nearby.

Premium Seating

FedEx Field offers premium seating but does not address availability of Suites, Touchdown and Owners Club West. To check on premium seating options for the Maryland-Texas game, contact: Washington Redskins.

Concessions and Dining

FedEx Field concessions offer traditional stadium cuisine and many special food and drink options.  Most stands accept cash, debit and credit cards. For a complete list of food and drink options see FedEx Field Concession Guide.

If you enjoy traditional stadium fare (i.e. popcorn, hot dogs, brats, beer and sodas etc.) but draw the line at overpriced food that you must hold (and spill) on your lap, plan your day so you can enjoy a snack and beverage at the game and have a leisurely lunch or dinner at one of Washington’s 1804 restaurants or one of Baltimore's 1475 restaurants.

You can choose your dining experience by …

·       Name of restaurant.

·       Type of food.

·       Hours of operation.

·       Ratings by Foursquare, Michelin, Yelp and Zagat.

·       Approximate price per meal $5, $20, $35, $50, $50+.

·       Moods: Romantic, Business, Party, Groups, Children, Local.

·       Options: Reservations, takeout, wi-fi, credit card, outdoor, parking, delivery, wheelchair, alcohol.

Stadium Entry: Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted at FedEx Field:

·       Bags, including: backpacks, gym bags, duffel bags, diaper bags, packages, briefcases, purses, fanny packs, etc.

·       Food and beverages of any kind.

·       Seat cushions with zippers or pockets.

·       Umbrellas (plastic ponchos are available for sale at select merchandise areas).

·       Bottles, jugs, thermoses, cans, coolers, or any other container.

·       Animals (except for certified guide dogs assisting disabled guests).

·       Whistles, horns and other noise makers.

·       Weapons, firearms.

·       Illegal drugs.

·       Folding chairs and strollers.

Still cameras, digital cameras and handheld video cameras are permitted provided they do not interfere with other fans.

Notice

FedEx Field personnel are the final authority as to the suitability and admittance of any item.  If you are carrying an item that is not permitted, it must be disposed of, or returned to your vehicle or hotel room.  If you even “think” something may not be allowed – don't take it!

Stadium Entry: Personal Search

You may be subject to a visual search or pat-down prior to entering stadium. If you do not permit such a search, you will not be admitted. This is just common sense – refuse a search – you miss the game!

Stadium Entry: Clear Bag Policy

Unfortunately, it has become necessary to strictly limit items that fans may take into stadiums. Stadium officials need to “see” what you are carrying with you, therefore each ticketed fan may enter stadium with only …

One (1) clear bag – no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches.

or

One (1) 1-gallon clear plastic bag (i.e. Ziploc bag).

plus

One (1) small clutch bag – (about the size of your hand).

No larger than 4 ½ inches by 6 ½ inches.

Stadium and NCAA approved bags are sold at Target and Walmart stores, or you can order online …

NO re-entry to anyone who leaves the building.  No exceptions!

Visitor Information

Washington DC Visitor Information

facebook - instagram

twitter - you tube

Washington, DC is one of the most interesting places to visit anywhere.  Any American who has seen Paris, London, Asia, South America or any other international destination without spending some time in D.C. is doing themselves a disservice.  The should “See America First” slogan should be changed to “See Washington D.C. First” – or maybe even “See Washington, D.C. First and Often”.

I have been fortunate to have visited our nation’s capital 12 times and can’t wait to go back for number 13.  Take good walking shoes – not because you are going to have to walk, but you are going to want to walk.

Getting around is a snap.  Washington, D.C. has one of the safest, cleanest and most efficient transportation systems in the world.  Once you figure out the Metrorail system (takes about 15 minutes and one ride), you are ready to go to all parts of the District.  For more information on just about everything there is to see and do in D.C., check out How To Get Around D.C.

Baltimore Visitor Information

facebook - instagram

twitter - you tube

I don’t know much about Baltimore.  With all my trips to D.C., I have not visited Baltimore.  That’s unfortunate since I have heard many great things about the harbor area.  If you decide to go, check with the Baltimore Visitor information site above.

Alexandria, Virginia Visitor Information

It’s right on the Metrorail and one of the most interesting places to visit in the D.C. area.  Consider staying in Old Town Alexandria where your sightseeing never stops – it just moves across the Potomac from D.C..  You won’t be disappointed – in fact, you’ll be thrilled.

Restaurants

Dining is always a major part of the fun.  As mentioned above, instead of spending good money on overpriced (and what often-times seems like “sloppy”) stadium food I have to hold – and spill - on my lap, I opt for a hot dog, popcorn, soda or beer at the stadium but when it’s time to dine, I prefer comfortable seating, menus and servers - you know the type you like to "tip".

Check out your options in the Washington area – there are a lot of them!

Dallas Travelers

When fall arrives in Dallas, by the look of all Burnt Orange apparel you see on Saturdays, it’ss obvious there are a lot of Longhorn fans in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Here’s a sample of a benefit of being “Creative” and “Planning Ahead”.

Ticket Number One

Source: americanairlines.com

DFW to DCA – non-stop – Friday, August 31

DCA to DFW – non-stop – Monday, September 3

As of today, (May 10, 2018) the Main Cabin price is $496.00 RT

Before you buy – are you planning a winter get-away?

IF the price is right – how about a February trip to Cozumel, Mexico?

The price IS right!

Ticket Number Two

Source: americanairlines.com

DFW to CZM – non-stop – Saturday, February 2

CZM to DFW – non-stop – Saturday, February 9

As of today – May 10, 2018 – the Main Cabin price is $845.00 RT

You pay $1,341.00 for these two tickets!

Get Creative - Plan Ahead!

You fly the identical non-stop flights, except the Dallas TO Washington is on Alaska or Southwest Airlines and departs from Love Field instead of DFW.

Ticket Number One

DAL to DCA – non-stop – Friday, August 31

Alaska Airlines - $149.00 OW

Southwest Airlines. $165.00 OW

Ticket Number Two

DFW to CZM – non-stop – Saturday, February 2 – American Airlines

CZM to DFW – non-stop – Saturday, February 9 – American Airlines

As of today (May 10, 2018) Main Cabin price is $649.00 (all 3 flights)

You pay $798.00 for these two tickets!

$1,341 - $798 = $543.00

Yes, it’s really this simple.

You are taking two trips …

#1 - Your trip to the Game!

Dallas – Washington – Dallas / August 31-September 3

#2 - Your trip to the Beach!

Dallas – Cozumel – Dallas / February 2-9

Instead of paying what everyone else would - $1341.00 - you read followthatteam.com and now know how to pay only $798.00!

Imagine!  You have $543.00 to apply towards your hotel for your winter trip in Cozumel,  because you went to the game.  Go Figure!   Stick with us and we will show you how to Follow Your Team and save over and over!

Why hasn’t anyone told you about this before?  Simple - they don’t know how to “read and interpret" airline rules and regulations for the maximum benefit for YOU - the traveler.  When asked, unfortunately their answer seems to be … “that’s illegal.”  Folks, they’re nuts!  I could tell you stories ...
